What is the CARB Clean Truck Check program?
The CARB Clean Truck Check is a mandatory vehicle inspection program administered by the California Air Resources Board for commercial diesel trucks and buses operating in California. Do I need an OBD test or an OVI Smoke Test?
It depends on your engine model year. Engines from 2013 and newer require an OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) test at $75. Engines from 2012 and older require an OVI Smoke Opacity Test at $199. Not sure? Call 916-890-4427 — we'll identify the right test in under two minutes.
How often does my truck need to be tested?
Testing frequency depends on your engine model year and gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR). In 2026, many vehicles have moved to twice-per-year testing schedules. We track compliance deadlines for regular customers and send retest reminders so you never miss a CARB deadline.
What happens if my truck fails the test?
If your vehicle doesn't pass, we provide full documentation of the test results along with a clear explanation of why. Our technicians are knowledgeable about common failure causes and can advise on next steps toward a successful retest.
Do you test Motorhomes and Agricultural Equipment?
Yes — we test commercial trucks, motorhomes/RVs, and agricultural diesel equipment subject to CARB regulations. Use our booking form above to specify your vehicle type and we'll confirm the right test.
Can you test an entire fleet in a single visit?
